Revealing Secrets in The Teton Backcountry | Big Lines & April Powder

SnowBrains |

Matt Phillipi spent some time in the Teton backcountry this April and was rewarded handsomely.  With the big dog Jackson Hole being closed, there was only one option this April, and it was a strong one.

The Tetons have a daunting amount of unreal backcountry terrain.  It’s enough to make you wonder why we don’t see edits like this more often…  Skiers and riders in the Tetons may actually be pulling off what other ski communities have tried to do for years.  They’re actually keeping their spots secret.

It’s impressive considering that TGR is based there, Teton Pass is there, Jackson Hole tram is there, there are heli operations there, along with a plethora of ripping freeriders with cameramen.  At this point, you’d think we’d have seen it all.  Yet, like any good Teton (translate this word into english from french) it’s sexiest when it’s at least slightly hidden.

“Some seasons are longer than others. This wasn’t the longest but April in Wyoming was as good as it gets, bluebird powder days and a long hike in Grand Teton Nation Park to ski the Dartmouth Couloir.” – Matt Philippi

  1. Also one of the reasons these spots are secret is that they are so hard to get to and find.
