Report from January 21, 2025
I was beckoned by the ridiculously long runs of Revelstoke, BC, Yesterday.
It was snowing lightly and coldly when I arrived.
Not much in this world beats a 5,620-vertical-foot crisp-as-hell groomer.
I rode the 2 gondolas to the upper mountain and slid down to the Stoke chair.
I exited the top of the chair with boots buckled and eyes downhill.
I locked in for a 5,620-vertical-foot groomer with no pauses.
The run “Pitch Black” was the goal.
I navigated the summit fog and slipped just skier’s left of the chair.
Cautious upper mountain turns with a few folks here and there turned into giant slalom turns down enormous vacant tree hallways.
No people, no real speed limit, steep and unending.
Top to bottom without stopping took over 10-minutes.
6 minutes of gorgeous groomers and 4 minutes on the zig-zag trail from gondy mid-station to the parking lot.
So damn fun!
Thanks, BC.
