Warm Layers

Explore North Okanagan, a tourism collective featuring Vernon, Silver Star, Okanagan Indian Band, SilverStar Mountain Resort and Lumby, launched a campaign called “Warm Layers” to connect guests to Indigenous culture and immersive nature activities. The Indigenous Art and Culture Series has seen locals and visitors get to know Silver Star from an Indigenous perspective through Syilx Elders, who have presented community events about their territory. The wrap-up celebration for this free seven-part series will take place on Sunday, February 25, from 3 – 6 p.m. Hear the winter stories of these sacred lands known as Medicine Mountain to the Okanagan people.

Warm Layers also features inspirations for exploring the small businesses, experiences in nature and history of the North Okanagan region. At the same time, the Syilx Sisters, Kelsie, Lauren, and Alicia, share stories of their roots and heritage on the Explore North Okanagan social media channels. Follow @ExploreNorthOkanagan.

“We are excited to bring the community together and celebrate with special events and unique experiences as we begin to move into the spring season. There are so many exciting events still to come on the calendar. From planning a family ski vacation to a friends’ getaway, we have some amazing spring break deals for accommodation savings of up to 25% off on stays between March 18 to April 7, while quantities last.”

Silver Star is a dream for family ski vacations. From the colourful storybook village to an easygoing vibe on the mountain with fewer crowds and mellow frontside terrain, families can explore at their own pace. Once the lifts stop spinning, the adventure continues into the evening with tubing at Tube Town, skating on Brewer’s Pond (a 2.5-acre natural ice rink), s’mores around the community fire pit and mini snowmobiling. Silver Star has uniquely themed, family-friendly dining establishments, ranging from grab-and-go eateries to sit-down meals with kids’ menus. Plus, condo-style ski-in/ski-out accommodation makes getting on and off (and maybe on and off again) the slopes a dream for parents.

One of Silver Star Mountain Resort’s unique benefits is its all-inclusive ticket, MY1PASS. This passport to an all-inclusive winter adventure at Silver Star provides access to seven activities: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing (XC), night skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, skating and fat biking. This access is included on day tickets, offering fantastic value for families who want unlimited winter adventures.
