Ski Arpa, a catskiing resort in Chile, announced over the weekend that due to lack of snow they will not be opening this winter.

It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that we will not be opening this season due to lack of snow. We are sorry if this disrupts any travel plans. We hope to see you in the years to come when Mother Nature cooperates some more!

This comes on the back of Los Puquios, across the border in Argentina, bringing an end to their winter season early too.ย One thing is certain, the central Andes are hurting right now. High temperatures and lack of snow are really affecting the area, with no real long-term sings of improvement.

Ski Apra closed early last season too, bringing an end to their winter 2018 season citing lack of snow.

Further south, in Bariloche, Argentina however, Catedral is going OFF. There is so much snow down here, the most we’ve seen this early in the season in our 11 years visiting here. Check out our report from the slopes…
