Snowbird, UT, Switches to Weekend Operations for Skiing and Riding

Gregg Frantz | | Post Tag for Industry NewsIndustry News

It is that time of year when ski resorts are switching to spring operations which means soft snow and big bumps! Snowbird in Utah will be open during the weekends starting on May 18th and going through Memorial Day Weekend. Spring skiing is special and brings out the die-hards who break out the shorts and bikinis!

Snowbird is planning on operating the Peruvian Express, the Peruvian Tunnel, Mineral Basin Express, Little Cloud, and the Tram operating as conditions allow. It is important to remember that most ski resorts do not offer any beginner terrain for spring skiing and Snowbird is no different. All lifts and terrain are subject to change based on current conditions.

Parking at Entry 1 is closed for the season which means guests can access parking through entries 2 and 4. There is no skiing access below the base of Little Cloud due to construction. Guests cannot ski down Creek Road to access parking on Wilbere Hill or in the Upper Gad Lot.  Mid-Gad, Wilbere, Gadzoom, Gad 2, Baldy Express, Chickadee (chairlift and conveyor), Baby Thunder, and the Thunder Tube are closed.

2024 Spring Ticket Pricing:

  • Adults (13-64 years old) Day $130
  • Youth (7-12 years old) Day $78
  • Seniors (65+ years old) Day $111
  • Kids (6 and under) Day Free

Spring Improvements:

Starting in Spring 2024, The Wilbere Chair and the Mid-Gad Restaurant are getting upgraded. They both were initially constructed in 1971. Snowbird’s Wilbere chair will become a fixed-grip quad chairlift and the loading station will move from its current location to the Creekside base area. The current fixed-grip double chair will transform into a fixed-grip quad chairlift, increasing the uphill capacity. The loading station, featuring a conveyor belt loading system, will move from its current location on Creek Road to the Creekside base area, near the Bryce Astle Training Center, making the chair more accessible from parking lots. The top station will remain near its current area, accessing the same terrain. The Mid-Gad building, located mid-mountain, is undergoing a complete remodel and updates are expected to be complete in time for the 2025-26 season.

To accommodate construction this summer, lower Gad Valley will be closed starting April 15 so snow removal can begin on the access roads. This year’s Snowbird x Woodward collaboration is on hold as the mountain focuses on these 2 large-scale projects and the Woodward teams focus their offerings at Woodward Park City.
