“Snowmageddon” Storm to Hit East Coast with Record Snowfall

Ok, a huge storm is coming to the East Coast, we all know that as the media has been battering us with it all week.

“Snowmageddon.”  “Snowpocolypse…”  “Yadda yadda yadda.”

In a nutshell, low pressure from the Pacific Ocean has been been moving across the USA and has become an area of intense low pressure.  This intense pressure gradient is what will cause big snow, big wind, and big rain for the East Coast today and tomorrow.

EAST COAST SNOW STORM FACTS:

  • 50 million people to be affected
  • 2-feet of snow forecast Friday-Saturday
  • 80mph winds forecast
  • 4,500 flights have been canceled Friday and Saturday
  • Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will suspend all operations of the subway over the weekend
  • Store shelves have been cleaned out as people stock up on supplies
  • Gulf states warned for heavy rains and possible tornados
  • State of emergency declared for Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennesse
  • Record snow forecast for Washington, D.C. & mid-Atlantic region
  • Appears smaller than Superstorm Sandy back in 2012
