Thanks to the seasonal shift and cooler temps in northern Utah, Snowbasin officially fired up the snowmaking guns for the season. With just a few weeks away from opening, the snowmaking is helping lay down a solid layer for Mother Nature to build upon ahead of what is shaping up to be another incredible season.

Over the summer, Snowbasin went to work leveling up its snowmaking system. With pipe and wire replacements and gun repositioning, the resort is well prepared to help Mother Nature carry the load as we gear up for opening day. Here is a look at Snowbasin’s snowmaking by the numbers:

  • In total, 414 high-quality snowmaking machines
  • 343 Automatic TechnoAlpin stick guns
  • 33 Automatic SMI tower fans
  • 19 Automatic SMI carriage fans
  • 15 Manual Ratnik snow giant 5s
  • 4 Manual Ratnik baby giants
  • 52 MILES of pipe
  • Over 600 acres of coverage

The announcement of snowmaking follows the news of Snowbasin coming in as the No. 2 ski resort in the West in SKI Magazine’s 2024 Resort Guide. Plus, the resort shared some exciting upgrades coming to Snowbasin for the ski season, including 124 additional parking spots, the new DeMoisy Express chairlift, a new patio with added dining options on Strawberry, and more!

Snowbasin opens for the 2023/24 winter season on November 24.

Opening day at Snowbasin is slated for November 24, 2023.
