The historic atmospheric river/bomb cyclone combo that slammed California last week, dumping over three feet of snow on most ski areas, has given the state a great start to winter.

Three ski areas opened early last week thanks to the snowfall; Mammoth Mountain, Boreal, and Palisades Tahoe.

Compared to the thirty-year median, the Tahoe snowpack is currently 8,150% above average.

And while such a large number doesn’t mean that much this early, it does highlight the great start they’ve had to winter.
