Placer county, CA has released Squaw Valley’s initial Base-to-Base Gondola proposal.

Highlights of the initial Base-to-Base Gondola proposal:

  • Cushing Pond, home of Cushing Crossing, would be the base station for the new gondola
  • 8 Gasex exploders for avalanche control
  • Troy Caldwell’s signature is on the proposal
  • No information about White Wolf in the proposal
  • Gondola would travel lookers right of KT-22
  • Would be very visible from both Squaw and Alpine

  1. Rather brief and incomplete document with 4 pages of text and 2 maps pages that are two poor
    to show actual placement of midstation near top of Caldwell property. Original plans months ago
    had the Gondola in the Granite Chief Wilderness area. Is this still true? Evasive text and poor maps don’t shed light on this problem.

  2. Putting the terminal on cushings pond is a huge middle finger to the whole squaw valley community .
    One of the most unique pond crossings in the ski business and KSL is building the gondola on it !
    WTF
