Sun Valley, ID Press Release:

Sun Valley, Idaho — Feb. 9, 2016 — Dollar Mountain is open today for skiing and riding at Sun Valley Resort. The 50 inches of snow Sun Valley has received in the past five days, combined with the warmer temperatures and freezing rain, has forced Sun Valley Resort to close Bald Mountain due to avalanche mitigation work. Bald Mountain will reopen as soon as the resort believes it is safe to do so. Guest and employee safety is always the top priority for the ski resort.

Sawtooth Avalanche Center has issued the highest warning rating for the Bald Mountain area – Extreme – as defined by the North American Public Avalanche Danger Scale. Extreme is when the danger level is so high, the warning is to avoid all avalanche terrain.

The latest mountain conditions and updates are posted here. The Sun Valley social media platforms will also be posting updates as conditions improve.
