Big improvements have been underway at Sun Valley Resort with its Warm Springs Enhancement Project.

The highlight of the project is two new lifts, but people might start to get even more excited about the extension of the Flying Squirrel trail after the resort shared this footage last week.

The trail looks like an ideal pitch, and I can imagine carving perfect corduroy on it or being the first one down in boot-deep powder.

The new trail, which is an extension of the current Flying Squirrel trail, is rated “Black” and has 14 snowmaking towers.

Other work being done on the enhancement project is replacing and realigning the Challenger Chairlift and constructing the new Flying Squirrel Chairlift. The new lift project will remove the Greyhawk lift and replace the existing Challenger lift with a Doppelmayr high-speed 6-pack. The bottom terminal of the new Challenger lift is being shifted to the location of the current Greyhawk bottom terminal, and the new Challenger lift will have a mid-unload station located near the current top terminal of Greyhawk. This will allow skiers and riders easy access to the popular Greyhawk terrain and race venues. The Flying Squirrel lift, the second out of Warm Springs base, will be a Doppelmayr high-speed quad and will link to the top of Upper Picabo’s Street trail.
