Swagtron, a leader in electric rideables, has just released its Snowtide โ€˜smartโ€™ ski and snowboard helmet. One of the only snow helmets on the market to offer a full suite of smart connectivity, the Snowtide integrates class-leading safety and features with immersive sound and advanced two-way communications.

The Snowtide features a built-in wireless Bluetooth audio system for shredding to your own soundtrack and taking calls via any connected smartphone. But this helmet goes beyond basic audio by including two-way โ€œwalkie-talkieโ€ communication with unlimited range. One-button Push to Talk (PTT) makes keeping in touch easy, with groups you can manage from the free Snowtide iOS/Android app.

โ€œWhether itโ€™s trying to meet up in the lift line or knowing when itโ€™s safe to drop that backcountry booter, communication is key,โ€ says Jason Wakefield, CMO. “And when it comes to smart features, the Snowtide is equal parts brain and bucket.”

The app also allows users to unlock advanced features including real-time stats like distance, duration, vertical, speed, altitude and slope angle.ย

Even more unique is an SOS feature that can automatically call for help if you crash. Advanced gyroscopic sensors built into the helmet activate the SOS system in the event of an impact. The helmetโ€™s personal alarm lets you know itโ€™s been activated. All good? Clear it. But if you need help, after 60 seconds the Snowtide will automatically send text and/or email alerts with your location to the emergency contact(s) youโ€™ve preset in the app.

And if you lose track of your Snowtide, a loss prevention system will sound an alarm on both the app and the helmet if they are separated by 50 feet.

All that smart tech is built into a premium snow helmet that hasnโ€™t neglected the basics.

Sliding vents provide breathability on warm days or when youโ€™re bootpacking bonus lines. Close them on-the-fly for insulation from the elements on a storm day. Goggle guides and a strap lock keep things tidy, and front induction channels ensure you can navigate with fog-free clarity.

In-mold construction combines an EPS impact layer with a durable ABS outer shell for multi-layer protection. A dial-fit system and adjustable, padded chin strap tie things together. And itโ€™s all wrapped into a sleek, aerodynamic design thatโ€™s surprisingly light for all the tech packed in.

The Snowtide Helmet is available in black or white at Swagtron.com for an introductory price of $149.99. MSRP: $165
