If this doesn’t get you fired up to surf or try surfing, nothing will. Just check out how hard and far John John can power slide after his cut backs. Just like skiing & riding, the better you get at it, the more fun you’ll have.
John John Florence grew up on the in Hale’iwa, in an ocean-side house at the Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The North Shore is surfing’s equivalent of skiing and riding’s Alaska and Pipeline is it’s gnarliest line.
The kid has been surfing since he was 3. At 13, he was the youngest surfer ever to compete in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (Hale’iwa, Sunset, & Pipeline). John John won the Vans World Cup of Surfing on December 2, 2011 and was the youngest to have ever won that contest. He’s now on the ASP World Tour as a fully professional surfer at the age of 21.
“John John’s going to know the waves on North Shore like no one we’ve ever seen before.” – Kelly Slater
“He’s a little unprecedented.” – Jack Johnson, who grew up in the same town as John John

The real question is can he win the tour? he’s definitely good and definitely young, but there is some stiff, hungry competition out there. I hope he does. We gotta keep those ozzies off the podium.
