Back to Winter at Arlberg, Austria After a week and a half of high pressure and spring like conditions we are back to winter weather. This is good news because everything but north facing slopes were getting pretty thin. Sunday it snowed about 10 cm and it was a nice little refresh, though a lot of places you were still hitting crust. Monday morning there was a couple hours of sun which we used to shred the rocky steep backside of Rendl, St. Anton. You can reach the ridge line from […] Conditions Report Eike Poeppelmeier | February 24, 2015 0 Comments
Epic Conditions at Arlberg, Austria This past week has been insane. The snow has just been piling up. Between digging out my car and riding powder there has been barely anytime for writing conditions reports and taking pictures. It has been quiet on the mountain the past few days as well. Especially the dump days have been super fun with fresh tracks every run. Last weekend it snowed 40cm of dry light pow on a rather hard icy surface but if you stayed away from steep terrain you could ride bottomless faceshot pow […] Conditions Report Eike Poeppelmeier | January 31, 2015 0 Comments
Conditions Report Arlberg, Austria: Perfect Powder Day Yesterday it was snowing hard all day with almost no wind. The snow just kept piling up. This morning the result was 40cms of perfect powder. Then more luck, skies started to clear completely at around 9 a.m. – what timing! The snow was just perfect and well bonded at most places. Some spots where the strong wind gusts had blown off all the snow last week you could still hit the odd rock. But most places it was just deep and fun with lots of faceshots. Top to bottom runs with well over 1000m vertical are finally full on! So we hiked up to the Maroikopf […] Conditions Report Eike Poeppelmeier | January 18, 2015 0 Comments

Freeriding in Lech Zรผrs am Arlberg, Austria We received the last snow on the 4 th January. Rain left a harder layer underneath that was smooth and made the fresh pow on top fast and fun to ride. The past two days it was mostly sunny and conditions were nice for touring. Although a lot of avalanches had been observed over the past few days due to wind loading and sun effected heavy snow, the snow pack in the mellower more sheltered backcountry was settled quit well […] Conditions Report Eike Poeppelmeier | January 8, 2015 0 Comments
