Brain Post: How Far Does the Average Human Walk in a Lifetime?

The average moderately active person take aound 7,500 step/day. If you maintain that daily average and live until 80 years of age, youโ€™ll have walked about 216,262,500 steps in your lifetime. Doing the math; the average person with the average stride living until 80 will walk a distance of around 110,000 miles. Which is the equivalent of walking about 5 times around the Earth, right on the equator. [โ€ฆ]

Miracle March: Californiaโ€™s Reservoirs Are Filling Up Fast

March truly has been a miracle for California residents.  Over the last two weeks of storms, the two largest reservoirs- Oroville and Shasta, have surpassed historical averages for this year, for the first time since 2013.  If this wet weather continues throughout the month and into May, some of the water restrictions might even begin to get phased out.  Felicia [โ€ฆ]

California Statewide Snowpack Currently at 19% of Average

Yes, we know that California is having a dry year. But, it is interesting to hear just how dry we are. In the Northern Sierra, snowpack is at only 10% of average. In the Central Sierra (Tahoe) the snowpack is at 21% of average. The Southern Sierra is doing the best with 29% of average snowpack right now. Pretty scary as well to read that the Central Sierra currently has a snow water content of only 8% of averageโ€ฆ It has been an extremely dry start [โ€ฆ]

Tahoe = 2nd Lowest Snow Year on Record | 54% of Average Snowfall in 2012/13

I just got off the phone with the Randall Osterhuber at the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Laboratory.  We talked about snow, rain, and sun.  He gave me the numbers for the 2012/13 season and he never once had any inflection in his voice.  Just basic, monotone, telling it like it is. THE BOTTOM LINE for 2012/13: โ€“ Our 2nd [โ€ฆ]
