All 4 Resorts Now Open in Southern New Zealand Cardrona continues to have the best conditions right now in the South Island. They have been making snow most days and about 80% of their runs are open. The coverage is almost entirely man-made snow and heavy traffic means conditions have become very icy in places. ย Race Course, All Nations and Gold Rush are especially icy at the moment. Cardrona, New Zealand Report – Bluebird and Freestyle Heaven We were lucky to catch Cardrona on a bluebird mini pow day. They reported 7 cm overnight, but it felt much deeper in many places. I was told that they had a long stretch of cold weather prior to the storm, so the snow underneath stayed good. The best snow of the day was definitely off of Whitestar chair, which is where I spent most of the day. Valley View and Captain’s had some decent snow as well. My favorite runs were in the Arcadia chutes. The NZ Winter Games were going on all week at Cardrona and it was fun to watch qualifiers for slope […] Conditions Report Guy LaDouche | August 28, 2015 0 Comments

Entertaining the Variable @ Cardrona Ski Field, New Zealand A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure to visit Cardrona Ski Field for a few days. Cardrona caters to everyone and really does ‘love you.’ From families to park skiers, off piste warriors to sidecountry enthusiasts, they really have a lot to offer. Speaking of the terrain parks, now that Snow Park NZ has shutdown, Cardrona is now THE place to visit during the North American Summer for park skiing With my skiing partner Miles Holden, we couldn’t have had two more different days on this trip. The first day was shut down early for insane weather, and the second day was a mix of every type of light, snow condition and terrain[…] Casey Cane | October 2, 2013 1 Comment
