We climbed up today and measured over 3-feet of new snow in spots. The snow came with big wind that was strong enough to shut the ski resort for most of the day today. They’ve gotten 120cms (47″) in the past 24 hours and it’s still snowing hard. It snowed so much that the power is out and the ski resort is closed due to the loss of power and extreme risk of avalanches. Catedral Ski Resort in Bariloche, Argentina OPENS for the Season Today Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina got a solid snowstorm yesterday that was enough to open them up for the season today. They were hoping to be open on June 20th, but had to wait a bit longer for the snow to fill in enough to make things right. Another reason they felt confident about opening today was the forecast. The forecast is showing a foot of new snow in the next 2 days. Catedral is our favorite place to ski in South America and we’ll be reporting at least weekly from this area all summer.
