Ripping winds closed Catedral ski resort Tuesday and the snow never stopped. Today, the winds abated but the snow intensified. This morning at Catedral, winds were calm, the cold was intense, and the snowfall was light. As the morning progressed the spring sun […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | September 24, 2014 0 Comments
Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: “Spring Has Sprung” It’s crazy to think spring is already here in Argentina. The trees are flowering, birds are chirping everywhere, and green leaves are unfurling. We had a big snowstorm last week that delivered 8 days of great powder skiing. The backcountry has been incredible. Temperatures have been getting warmer each day this week with today being toasty. We’ve had just enough freeze-thaw cycles now to develop some good corn. Today, you could rip hard on any part of the mountain. There was no one at the hill and the Mothership, Nubes chair, once again proved its meddle. Cranking laps on Nubes all day is enough to make anyone exhausted. Nubes did […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | September 17, 2014 0 Comments
Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: Backcountry Bliss Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina just got a 2-foot storm. Yesterday, the snow was light and fluffy in La Laguna and just about everywhere on the mountain. As always happens in the Andes, the wind blew last night and pressed the snow pretty good in most spots. Upper and Lower La Laguna held up to the wind well and stayed relatively light and fluffy. The Playground got wind pressed and the afternoon sun that came out yesterday cooked it pretty good. The snow was punchy and catchy in the Playground today. Lower Laguna was stellar […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | September 10, 2014 1 Comment
Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: Big Mountain Park Skiing Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina has a chairlift called Nubes. It’s a high speed quad that rises 2,000-feet to the top of the mountain. It accesses steep, jagged terrain, cliff hucks, cruisy groomers, wide open bowls, natural halfpipes, and the terrain park. Nubes would be a solid chair anywhere. Nubes is the key to days like today. Like Tahoe, Bariloche experiences mid-winter springtimes. If you embrace them, they’re […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | August 21, 2014 0 Comments
2 Foot Powder Day in Bariloche, Argentina: As Good As It Gets Today was a great day at Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina. The snow was about as good as it gets here. It snowed hard and blew hard yesterday leaving us with up to two feet of semi dense, wind-pressed snow. The kind of snow you can open it up in, but can still speed check in anytime. It was also good for hucking provided you had a steep landing. It didn’t give much on flat landings… I started the day with two laps on the mellow terrain Punta Nevada […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | August 6, 2014 7 Comments
