VIDEO: The US Ski Team Goes Heli Skiing in New Zealand Yep, the US Ski team went heli skiing in New Zealand last week and they got shacked. Pretty fun to watch them hucking and ripping around and hooting. “Call it El Niรฑo, the conditions in the Southern Hemisphere this year have been supreme. The snow gods paid a visit to New Zealand for both the men and the women, giving them the chance for some powder days and heli-skiing adventures. Thanks to trustees Steven Reid, Eric Resnick and more, for making this adventure possible. […] SnowBrains | September 12, 2015 1 Comment
VIDEO: Heli Skiing Portillo, Chile with Ian McIntosh in August We didn’t even know they had heli skiing in Portillo, Chile. Heli Skiing Silverton Colorado: Steepest and Deepest the lower 48 has to offer. I had made plans to be in Alaska this March over my spring break to finally set free my inner soul and accomplish a lifelong dream of helicopter skiing that I developed at age 8 watching MSP videos. But due to record low snow in AK this year, in combination with personal plans falling through, I was not able to make it happen, I guess all things happen for a reason right? Helicoptering the Hippy Pow @ Silverton Mountain I’ve been visiting Silverton almost yearly since they loaded their first guest on the infamous double chair that summits at 12,300ft. Why? First of all, they almost always receive early snowfall, so skiing in December can be quite good. Secondly, the terrain, views and consistent pitch to the valley floor is hard to beat when compared to other resorts in Colorado. I’ve done guided, unguided and of […] Conditions Report Casey Cane | March 1, 2015 1 Comment
Whislter, B.C. Conditions Report: Deep Powder Heli Skiing on an 82″ Base Yesterday Whistler already has an 82″ base… Whoa… Whistler has done this every year for a while now. They get a big pre season dump. they send Mike Douglas and crew out in a heli. Mike D. and crew tears Whistler up for a day. Then they tease the crap out of us with the footage. We love it. To be clear, Whistler is not open yet and they won’t open until November 27th. Although, twice in this video, they mention that they might open earlier… […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | November 2, 2014 1 Comment
Saturday Session of Succulence @ Harris Mountains Heli-ski NZ – September 14th, 2013 What the best way to spend your last day on a ski vacation? Heli-skiing is crucial to experience the Southern Alps of New Zealand for snow enthusiasts. Access to the interior of the Southern Alps is extremely tough due to their massive stature without any gradual elevation gain from the plains. This is why most of the ski fields are located on the exterior of the range…it is just too difficult to throw in a road and build a resort. Higher elevation, steeper slopes, better snow, longer descents, and incredible vistas are what you […] Featured Video Casey Cane | September 25, 2013 1 Comment
