Miracle March? Not 1991 but the NWS are Calling it Good Enough! March came in like a lion and will go out like a lamb as dry and warmer conditions are expected this week, posted NWS Reno Nevada. March had a pretty miraculous turn around in just a few weeks where we saw substantial increases in Sierra snowpack and snow water equivalent (liquid content of the snow). Not quite the original “Miracle […] Weather WeatherBrains | March 30, 2018 0 Comments
Alta Conditions Report – Spring has Sprung! Whelp, we are back to spring time sun and warmth. The weather and snow has been behaving more like late April, rather than mid March this past week. However it is not hard to make the best of soft snow and goggle tan weather. After the last storm there was a nice coat of new snow and patrol dropped the ropes on 100% of terrain. Crystal Mountain Conditions Report | Corn, Chalk and Chowda Though the northwest is still hungry for more snow, the spring-like conditions at Crystal are surprisingly rad! Near the top of the resort, north-facing slopes still have some protected, chalky snow, allowing for smeary, fast turns. Once the sun heats up the steeper south-facing runs, the slush is easy to mash through and there are plenty of shrubs and rocks to jump over if thatโs your thing. As always, the groomers are speedy and consistent with plenty of small rollers to pop off. Rachel Delacour | March 8, 2015 0 Comments

The outlook meteorologists at the Climate Prediction Center are gaining confidence in this pattern change, and it even looks like it could be colder (i.e. more snow) than previous storms. Keep your fingers crossed! – NOAA Sacramento […] SnowBrains | February 20, 2015 3 Comments
VIDEO: Bearded Tanner Hall Ripping Squaw Valley in March Tanner Hallis good at skiing and his new beard is gnarly. When many other might be bummer about the conditions, Tanner is out at Squaw with his crew throwing down. Flips, 360s, 720, rodeo 5s, and 180s all over the mountain. This video was filmed in only 3 afternoons of slush skiing at Squaw. This is inspiring and shows up that despite the conditions, you can still push it and have a riot out there. Filmed 100% on the GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition at Squaw Valley Resort over 3 afternoons of riding. […] SnowBrains | April 15, 2014 1 Comment
