VIDEO: Snowing in the Sierra Nevada… Spain Today We forget that there is a an original Sierra Nevada and it’s in Spain. It’s snowing pretty hard there today. Yep, they get decent snow there and yes, they have ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada, Spain. What’s neat about these mountains is that they are very far south in Spain and they have the most southerly ski resort in Europe. The Sierra Nevadas have mountains as tall as 11,411-feet which is the highest point in Spain. Mt. Whitney, CA Mountaineering Conditions Report | by Sierra Mountain Guides We have been out and about for the past few weeks. Not much new to report for alpine ice climbers. Couloirs are still quite snowy, and the firnification process has been slow due to continued snowstorms through May. Some couloirs do have patches of ice exposed due to the dry winter (see last Alpine Conditions Report).
