We forget that there is a an original Sierra Nevada and it’s in Spain. It’s snowing pretty hard there today. Yep, they get decent snow there and yes, they have ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada, Spain.
What’s neat about these mountains is that they are very far south in Spain and they have the most southerly ski resort in Europe.
The Sierra Nevadas have mountains as tall as 11,411-feet which is the highest point in Spain. These mountains are located in the traditionally hot and dusty provinces of Andalucia, Granada, and Almeria.
The ski resort they have there is called the Sierra Nevada Ski Station, is the highest ski resort in Europe and they hosted the FIS Alpine World Chmpionships in 1996 and they occassionally hold World Cup events.
The place is pretty big with 2 cable cars, 17 chairlifts, and a top elevation of 10,800-feet.
