Division of Air Quality: “Toxic Air” Detected in Salt Lake City, UT & Wasatch Front

Known as an "Inversion" in Salt Lake it is really just air pollutants trapped between the two large mountain ranges.

A study was recently conducted by scientists at Utah’s Division of Air quality (DAQ) on a large number of substances that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies as “hazardous air pollutants.” The study took samples from three major sites in order to determine the population’s risk for cancer induced by air pollution. Chile Declares “Enviro-Emergency” Due to Intense Smog in Santiago

The Chilean government has declared an environmental emergency for the Santiago metropolitan area today, Monday, June 22nd, 2015. They have forced 900 industries to shut down today as well as 40% of Santiago’s 1.7 million cars. The horrible air pollution in Santiago is being blamed on the lack of storm, wind, and rain in Santiago this year.
