NOAA: 6-Inches of Snow Forecast for California Today Yet another May storm is on it’s way to California today. The storm today is forecast to drop up to 6″ of snow above 8,000-feet in the Sierras. This will be the third storm to bring significant snow to the Sierra Nevada mountain since Cali’s first big storm this month on May 7th that dropped 12-18″ on Mammoth. Another storm this past Thursday dropped 5″ on Mammoth. Tahoe’s been getting it from these storms as well but no ski resorts are open up there. Gulf of Alaska Storm Hits California Tomorrow | Up to a Foot of Snow Forecast Another late season storm from the Gulf of Alaska will move into California Thursday into Friday. This storm will bring rain and snow showers along with the possibility of thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will bring dangerous lightning and possibly heavy rain and small hail along with gusty winds.
