Squaw Weekend Video Update: More POWDER!

Dropping in on Middle Knuckle

This past weekend brought conditions of all sorts to Squaw, mostly good but also a touch of bad.  Friday brought with it high winds, high snow levels, and high amounts of closures.  Saturday yielded colder temps, snow flurries throughout the day, and a very surprising amount of ripping snow.  Sunday things tried to go blue, but mainly provided smooth wind […]

Squaw Valley, CA Weekend Wrap Up & Video Update: Hot Laps and Hot Pow

With a winter weather filled weekend, the skiing at Squaw has shaped up quite nicely.  Saturday brought blue skies in the morning followed by the milk man in the afternoon as well as the opening of the Funnel and the Reverse Traverse.  On Sunday we had hot pow in the morning as weather moved back in, shutting down the upper […]

However, with only Gold Coast remaining on the schedule (due to the fact you likely won’t be able to make it down to Siberia on Saturday) this past Sunday felt a bit like closing day. Siberia at Squaw Valley yesterday. photo: squaw

Old Man Winter actually decided to make an appearance in Tahoe Easter Sunday, and delivered a tasty 4-10″ of fresh at Squaw Valley. With the new snow and cold temperatures today, the skiing stayed ripping all day with Siberia and the Reverse Traverse holding the best turns of the day. In the afternoon the winds picked up as the approaching storm rolled in, making for some smooth wind buff turns in Siberia Bowl. Patrol also gave us The Palisades at around 1:30 (after the Reverse Traverse crowds died down), and National Chute held some nice fresh turns. Main Chute closed shortly after opening, and Extra […]

Remember When It Snowed In Tahoe?

Sending it off the middle air of Triple Goat in Granite

It’s starting to get hard to remember, but the start of the season at Squaw really was ripping good. The above video by Aaron Fox proves just this, as he and friends rip around the upper mountain finding fund lines and soft landings. Pillows are popped and flips are had in Granite, while some of the best turns in years were found off Hog’s Back and North Bowl early in the season. […]
