Friday Fun: Surfing with 10 Sharks on Memorial Day! It is truly every surfers biggest fear: Sharks in the water while you’re surfing. But in Florida, they just don’t care. Granted these sharks are smallerish, but I sure as hell wouldn’t share the line up with them… Water was very clear at NSB inlet today, we […] Surf SwellBrains | May 29, 2014 0 Comments
Swell Saturdays: The Heaviest Toy Wave on Earth | Teahupoo, Tahiti Teahupoo in Tahiti is the heaviest barrel on Earth. It’s named in Tahitian translates to “severed head” or “place of skulls”. Yeah… The place is so burly that it’s fun to make light of it. Fun to create a world where Teahupoo hurts no one but the stoked remains the same. Or almost the same. Swell Saturdays: 13-Year Old Surfing Prodigy | Watch and Be Blown Away: With the North American skiing and riding season coming to a close my mind starts to drift toward a summer filled with epic waves and fast single track lines. Only this year, due to the decision to further my education in a state land locked, it will be single track lines and skate sessions to try and attempt to fill the void in my heart due to the lack of waves. I have some SoCal trips planned, but it will not […] Surf Ryan Mulcahy | April 26, 2014 0 Comments

Julia Mancuso Surfs Sochi After Winning Bronze Medal Squaw Valley’s Julia Mancuso, the most decorated female Winter Olympian in history, went surfing in Sochi, Russia last week. Julia is a surfer, has a house in Maui, and got invited to surf with Sal Masakela on her last day in Sochi, Russia’s Black Sea. Cool. “It was cold, but it wasn’t bad. I didn’t have a hoodie [an insulated neoprene hood] on, so I only lasted about 45 minutes. I caught four amazing waves. There were some big sets. Most of the waves were shoulder high. I caught some incredible waves all the way to the shore, so I was pretty stoked. We surfed up a storm, literally. There was a storm passing through and it died out in two hours, and the waves were gone after that. We hit it perfect.” – People Magazine […] SwellBrains | February 25, 2014 0 Comments
Friday Fun: Worst Collision Ever Caught on GoPro Camera Two beginner surfers make for one of the worst collisions weโve ever seenโฆbut weโre happy to report that the woman who took the board to the head is alive after this scary incident. The two surfers made a few glaring errors. For one, the lady paddling was in the trough of the wave, either sit outside or on the inside, not right in the impact zone. Secondly, instead of turning away, the guy who ran her over somehow shot his board right […] SwellBrains | February 7, 2014 0 Comments
