Pre-Freedom Fest Conditions Report from Palisades Tahoe, CA

Slush Sprays!

Report from June 30, 2023 We woke up just before 6 a.m. — the birds were chirping and the crisp morning air coming through the window was warm already. On the road by 7 a.m., the drive up highway 89 at this hour from South Lake to Palisades is always so peaceful, yet filled with anticipation.  Pulling into the parking […]

Lake Tahoe Storm Snow Totals & Photo Tour:

We can hear avalanche bombs from our house in Tahoe City. Not a bad sign. It’s also very windy in Tahoe City this morning. NOAA is reporting 40mph winds at the top of Squaw with gusts to 60mph and a temperature of 22ºF as of 7am. We’re hoping it’s not enough wind to shut down Squaw’s upper lifts, but it just might be… Snow showers, mainly before 11am. High near 41. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. – NOAA […]

SNOW in Tahoe: Photo Tour and Snowfall Totals (It’s Still Snowing)

A nice 4-5" of snow for Sierra Meadows

Things finally transitioned last night, bringing down some of that good white stuff. Hopefully you got the powder boards waxed up, as it’s the deepest day of 2014! (Actually, we would recommend the rock skis as things are still going to be more than a little thing out there) Forecasts are looking good, with snow continuing today and a chance of snow showers[…]

First SNOW of the Year for Tahoe | Photo Tour September 22nd

First snow for tahoe

As we reported last night, Tahoe has received it’s first snow of the year!  The Tahoe Basin received 2-5″ of snow yesterday afternoon/evening and we awoke this morning to blue skies and white blanketed mountain tops. There was even enough snow to cause chain chain control and a resulting traffic hold up on Highway 80. And we’re not done yet, there’s […]
