2,300 Pounds of Trash Left on Tahoe’s Beaches This 4th of July

2,300 pounds of garbage were left on Lake Tahoe's beaches after firework shows this past 4th of July. Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Who would trash it like this? Fortunately, "Keep Tahoe Blue" found 120 volunteers to help clean up the litter. "We collected nearly 2,300 pounds of trash from five beaches, including at least 1,500 cigarette butts." - Jesse Patterson, deputy director of Keep Tahoe Blue This clean up effort was the 2nd annual "Keep Tahoe Red, White, and Blue Beach Cleanups campaign. These folks cleaned 3 miles of Tahoe's shoreline which represents only 5% of the lake's shoreline.
