Up to 9″ has fallen already at Eagle Nest and reports of 6-10″ near and around Taos continue to come in at this hour. Most of the snow will be above 8,500 feet.  This is the start of the season in New Mexico not so much for skiing but the fall and early winter storms across the Southwest. Jet the sub tropical jet going and “POW” you have a nice 12″-18″ snow storm on your hands.

A Winter Weather Advisory for the Mtns of Northern NM will run for the next few hours and even Ski Santa Fe could see some snow.  Albuquerque and the metro area will deal with the wind from this storm not the rain and snow.
