Spotsurfer, a Denver-based parking business, is set to revolutionize parking accessibility for skiers heading to Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek, Colorado. The company aims to tackle the ongoing parking issues near these popular ski destinations, especially during peak seasons.

As skier traffic surges, finding a parking spot near Vail and Beaver Creek becomes increasingly challenging, with the town of Vail resorting to overflow parking solutions on the frontage roads. However, Spotsurfer introduces an innovative alternative by leveraging privately-held parking spaces previously inaccessible to the public.

“The location-based app provides ski drivers a hassle-free way to locate and secure advance parking reservations, while property owners can utilize unused parking spaces.

Through AI-enabled marketing programs, Spotsurfer drives parking demand and delivers skier-driver data to simplify skier parking experiences, ease traffic congestion, and reduce the number of cars on the road.

Spotsurfer is doing its part to reduce carbon emissions and aid in the economic development of local ski area communities.”

CEO Erik Davison explains that Spotsurfer aggregates nonconventional parking spaces into its marketplace, thereby maximizing parking capacity without the need for additional infrastructure. Users can conveniently reserve parking spots via the Spotsurfer app, which provides detailed directions and transport options for more remote locations.

Founder and President James Hohenlohe conceived the idea for Spotsurfer after experiencing firsthand the frustrations of finding parking near ski resorts. Inspired by his upbringing and observations, Hohenlohe envisioned a platform where property owners could rent out their unused parking spaces to alleviate parking pressures.

Spotsurfer currently boasts 450 parking spots across Eagle, Summit, and Grand Counties, with plans to expand further. The startup’s rapid growth reflects its success in addressing the parking needs of skiers, with app downloads increasing significantly in recent months.

Despite initial marketing challenges, Spotsurfer is gaining traction, with partnerships established with local businesses and plans for expansion into Utah and California. The company remains committed to fostering collaboration with mountain communities and enhancing the skiing experience for all.

Spotsurfer is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
