And then there were three. Despite record-breaking snowfall across the west, just three resorts remain open for your shredding pleasure.
These are the resorts in North America still open with lifts turning and scheduled closing dates:
California/Nevada
- Palisades Tahoe – July 4 (Alpine only, and just weekends through July 4th)
- Mammoth Mountain – Aug
PNW
- Timberline Lodge, OR – August 31 (summer snow season begins 5/30)
For western resorts, the vast majority of closing dates are pre-determined (usually before the season begins) by amount of skier visits. Many (over half?) close regardless of amount of snow remaining.
Many could stay open into mid-summer on most years.
For the eastern resorts it is generally the opposite. They are far busier (relative to size) and therefore the vast majority operate until the snow is completely gone.
Brighton in Utah is open until May 29th.
Mon-Sun: 9:00a – 2:00p Milly express only.
AZ season shames the rest of the west. Step up your game people !!
Most ski resorts are restricted by their forest service contract how long they can operate.
Alyeska Closed April 30
Solitude is daily thru May 21
Kirkwood is weekends only
Mt Baldy, CA still open on weekends!
Winter Park/Mary Jane will be open As long as possibleโฆ. The website has been updated. Looks like at least memorial day weekend
