Whether your child is just starting out or already carving down the mountain, Sunshine Village, Alberta, has something for everyone. From tree-lined adventures to scenic groomers, these seven runs are guaranteed kid-approved.

Sunshine Village has incredible ski runs, but what makes these seven stand out for kids? They offer a mix of excitement, accessibility, and stunning scenery. Each of these trails offers something uniqueโ€”whether itโ€™s the playful turns of Rollercoaster, the breathtaking views of Meadow Park, or the adventure-filled terrain of Eagle Creek.

Parents love them too because they provide a balance between fun and safety. The runs arenโ€™t overly difficult, allowing kids to feel challenged without being overwhelmed. Plus, with their convenient locations across the mountain, families can easily mix and match runs to create the perfect ski day tailored to their little onesโ€™ abilities.

Rollercoaster โ€“ A Thrilling Ride for All Ages

If we asked a room full of kids what their favorite run at Sunshine Village is, weโ€™d hear โ€ Rollercoasterโ€ echo throughout. This playful, twisty, turny tree run is a Sunshine Village classic located off the Wolverine Express. The natural rolls and quick turns make it feel like an amusement park ride on snow. Young skiers and riders love the sense of adventure as they weave through the trees, picking up just the right amount of speed to keep things fun without being overwhelming. The run finishes right at Goatโ€™s Eye Gardens, making it easy for parents and kids to regroup before heading up for another lap. While at Goatโ€™s Eye, stop by Beavertails for a tasty snack.

Eagle Creek โ€“ A True Adventure in the Trees

For kids who are confident skiing and riding black runs, get ready to take things up a notch. Eagle Creek is the perfect challenge, with fun surprises, from winding turns to natural terrain features that make every descent unique. Located off the Goatโ€™s Eye Express chairlift, Eagle Creek has a more adventurous feel than other kid-friendly runs, making it popular among young thrill-seekers. The run weaves through a beautiful, forested area, offering just enough obstacles to keep things interesting without being too intimidating. Itโ€™s ideal for intermediate young skiers who want to feel like theyโ€™re on an exciting backcountry adventure.

Star Trek โ€“ An Exciting Flight Through the Bumps

Take a left off Wawa chair, and head towards the trees for an adventurous run where youโ€™ll ski an exciting track through bumps and trees that keeps you feeling like youโ€™re flying through a galaxy far, far away (we know โ€“ wrong movie reference). Star Trek is a fan favorite for kids comfortable skiing black diamond runs. Youโ€™ll have a choice as you approach the end of the run. Enter the infamous run known as Waterfall or return to Birdcage.

Kidโ€™s Play โ€“ A Kid-Friendly Intro to Terrain Park

Located off of Wolverine Express, youโ€™ll find the Kidโ€™s Play Terrain Park under the Wolverine lift line. This park offers beginner, ride-on features for a safe introduction to boxes and jumps. The park gets its name from the run it calls home, Kidโ€™s Play. If youโ€™re skiing with kids of different levels, the lower kidsโ€™ play area is an easy green that meets up with the park. As a parent, you can let your kids split up and still watch your older kid in the terrain park.

Meadow Park โ€“ Breathtaking Views with Gentle Slopes

Nestled off the Wawa Quad chairlift, Meadow Park is the perfect mix of scenic beauty and beginner-friendly terrain. One of the highlights of this run is the incredible view of Delirium Dive, one of Sunshine Villageโ€™s most famous extreme skiing areas. While Delirium Dive is reserved for expert skiers, Meadow Park offers a much more relaxed experience, allowing kids to enjoy our Rocky Mountain views while cruising down a gentle slope. The wide, groomed trail gives young skiers plenty of space to practice their turns, making it an excellent choice for those looking to build confidence in a low-pressure environment. As youโ€™re skiing Meadow Park, keep your eyes open for secret bump runs through the trees.

Rock Isle Road โ€“ A Classic Family Favourite

Rock Isle Road is one of Sunshine Villageโ€™s most iconic runs, and for good reason. This wide, gentle trail provides a relaxed skiing experience, perfect for families who want to take their time and enjoy the surroundings. The runโ€™s steady gradient makes it easy for kids to stay in control, while the stunning alpine views ensure thereโ€™s always something beautiful to look at. Another unique feature of Rock Isle Road is that itโ€™s hikeable in the summer, allowing visitors to explore the area year-round. Whether youโ€™re on skis in the winter or hiking boots in the summer, Rock Isle Road is a must-visit trail at Sunshine Village.

Prune Pickers Pass โ€“ A Beginnerโ€™s Dream

Located off the Strawberry Express chairlift, Prune Pickers Pass is a fantastic run for young skiers still building their skills. This beginner-friendly trail offers a smooth, forgiving descent with plenty of room to practice turns. The gentle terrain allows kids to focus on improving their technique without the pressure of steeper slopes. Plus, the views from Prune Pickers Pass are breathtaking, with the Monarch and upper mountain lifts as a picturesque backdrop. Itโ€™s a tremendous confidence-building run that lets kids progress at their own pace while soaking in the stunning surroundings.
