The United State’s highest continuous paved road at 12,183-feet, Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park, CO, will open to all traffic for the summer season on Friday 28th May.

Wednesday afternoon, officials from Rocky Mountain National Park confirmed on Twitter the opening day of the alpine thoroughfare.
Trail Ridge Rd in #RMNP now open to Milner Pass/Continental Divide on west side. Bicyclists & walkers may not go past this point. East side, vehicles may go to Rainbow Curve & bicyclists & walkers to Rock Cut. Weather & conditions permitting, TRR opens for season Fri, May 28.

The road has historically opened on Memorial Day weekend though it opened as early as May 7, in 2002, and as late as June 26, 1943. The road officially closed for the winter season in 2018 on Oct. 31.
