Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park, CO, is currently closed on  the east side of the park at Rainbow Curve and on the west side of the park at Milner Pass, due to ongoing drifting snow and icy road conditions. Rocky Mountain National Park Services announced the closure on social media on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, and stated that the road will be re-evaluated tomorrow, October 4.

The recent snowfall is also impacting the search efforts for missing trail runner Chad Pallansch. Pallansch went missing last week when he set out for a 28-mile run from Ridge Trail Road.

Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the United States, cresting at an elevation of 12,183 feet (3,713.38 m) above sea level.

Rocky Mountain National Park Services remind visitors coming to the Rocky Mountain National Park to always be prepared for winter driving during the month of October and be ready to adjust travel plans as needed.
