Citizens of Utah might not need to turn their clocks back every year anymore. A new Utah bill may make daylight saving time permanent after the bill got preliminary approval in the Utah Senate on Monday, Feb. 10, KSL News reports.

Traditionally, daylight saving time intends to add an additional hour of daylight in the evening during some of the longest days of the year and it is set to start in Utah this year on March 8 at 2 a.m. when clocks “spring forward.” This continues through Nov. 1 when clocks “fall back” to standard time.

The new bill is sponsored by Sen. Wayne Harper, who claims that local and national surveys show people don’t want to keep making the biannual time change any more. In order for the bill to go into effect, it requires action by Congress and at least four western states, KSL news said in a report.

  1. as a skier, daylight savings all the time sux. more time for the pow to get baked by sun before the resort opens. but makes after work tours a little easier. i vote for standard time year rd.
