From investments inย new lifts and technologyย toย base area upgrades,ย new facilities, and restaurants, Vail Resorts is continuallyย looking forย ways toย enhanceย theย guest experience acrossย its North American resorts.ย Since 2008, the company has investedย an unparalleledย $1.5 billionย back intoย its resorts, andย heading intoย theย 2021-22ย winter seasonย anotherย $120 millionย will be invested acrossย its resorts, including significant enhancements atย 4 out of 5 of the resorts based in Colorado.ย Theseย investments, paired withย a bold price reset for the Epic Pass,ย continue to makeย getting on the mountain easierย and better than everย in Colorado and beyond.

Beaver Creek: McCoy Parkย Expansionย

Beaver Creek Resort will add 250 acres of lift-served, welcoming ski terrain for beginner and intermediate skiers to connect and elevate their mountain experience for the 2021-2022 season. McCoy Park is the resortโ€™s newest learning area and is a separate, family-friendly zone, allowing for a more relaxed experience for beginner families.ย Adding two additional chairlifts,ย McCoy Park will offer 17 trails of natural,ย groomableย glades while maintaining snowshoe and cross-country areas.

McCoy Park is theย thirdย installment of Beaver Creekโ€™s Signature Parks Collection, comprised ofย Haymeadowย Park, Red Buffalo Park, andย now McCoy Park. The Signature Parks Collection is specifically designed for beginner through intermediate skiers and riders toย inspire confidence, progressively improve skills, and evoke a sense of wonder and accomplishment.ย  These terrain areas, combined with the Cookie Cabin, Candy Cabin, and Ice Creamย Parlorย are assets that make Beaver Creekย Kids Ski andย Snowboardย School an industry-leading guest experience.

Breckenridge: Introducing the Freedomย SuperChair:ย A Brand-Newย Chairย Creates a Classic Pairย on Peak 7ย

Freedom and Independence.ย Two wordsย that go together likeย Peanutย Butter andย Jelly.ย Macaroni and Cheese.ย Batman and Robin.ย Coming this winter,ย aย brand-new chair createsย aย classicย pairย on Peak 7ย โ€“ย Freedom and Independence.ย The new Freedomย SuperChair, alongside the existing Independenceย SuperChair,ย will provide guests theย opportunity to experienceย theย wide-open and rolling terrain of Peak 7ย in a whole newย way, and carve theirย own path downย and across Breckโ€™sย expansiveย peaks.

The new Freedomย SuperChairย is set to debutย for the upcoming winter andย the resortโ€™s 60thย anniversary season.ย Locatedย on the north side of Peak 7,ย the new lift will provide additional accessย toย the popular peak andย will be a game-changer for the interconnected, peak-to-peak experience at the resort. With the lower terminal located just below where the Lincoln Meadows and Monte Cristo trails meet, guests coming from Peak 6 will easily be able to hop on the new lift forย quickย access to Peaks 7 and 8. The liftย will dropย guests off just above the Pioneer Crossing restaurant. This investment at the resortย willย greatly enhance the on-mountain experience for skiers and riders,ย providing relief to the Independenceย SuperChairย andย the base of Peak 7, while improving the circulation of skiers and riders between Peaks 6, 7, and 8.

Construction of the new high-speed quad lift, manufactured by Leitner Poma,ย is underway this summer.ย Theย Freedomย SuperChairย is anticipated to open to the public in early winterย this year, as soon as Peak 7 terrain is ready to open for the season.

Crested Butte: Peachtree Gets an Upgrade

Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) is excited to replaceย its oldest lift and last remaining two-person chairlift this summer. The existing Peachtree two-person fixed-grip lift will be replaced with a new three-person fixed-grip lift that will service beginner terrain at the base of the resort.

This project will increase uphill capacityย by 50 percent, resulting in quicker access to the mountain, and will include grading of terrain serviced by the Peachtree lift to create a more consistent pitch across the entire slope. This means less challenging terrain on which to learn, further improving the experience for beginners and Ski and Ride School guests at CBMR.

Peachtree lift was installed in 1971.ย Thisย project, along with capital improvements planned at Okemo in Vermont, is part of the $35 million capital plan for Triple Peaks originally announced by Vail Resorts following the acquisition of CBMR, Okemo, and Mt. Sunapee in 2018. These improvements demonstrateย the companyโ€™s commitment to continually reinvest in the core mountain experience for our guests at CBMR and across Vail Resorts.

Keystone: New 6-Passenger Peru Express Lift & Future Plans forย Lift-Servedย Bowl Skiing

This summer, the existing Peru Express Lift at the Mountain House base area is being upgraded to a new high-speed, 6-passenger chairlift that will debut for the 2021-22 winter season. This exciting new project will greatly enhance the on-mountain guest experience, improving skier and rider circulation and providing quicker and more efficient access to Keystone’s mountain playground.

In addition,ย Keystone isย getting ready to enhance options for play inย the resortโ€™sย bowl skiing terrain! Keystoneย recently received U.S. Forest Service approvalย to bring lift-served skiing and riding to Bergman Bowl, including a new chairlift, new trails, new snowmaking, and an expansion to the Outpost Restaurant! While this area of the resort is currently open for hike-to accessed skiing and riding, this project will improve access to the currently under-utilized terrain providing lift service to more than 500 acres ofย intermediate and advancedย terrain in the Bergman and Erickson Bowls. The project timeline is currently TBDย but the resort hopes to share more details in the near future.
