[VIDEO] 35-year Time Lapse of Las Vegas Population Growth vs. Lake Mead Water Levels

This video comes from Instagram user jacobslifeinvegas. It shows the water level of Lake Mead, just outside Las Vegas over a 35-year period.

Las Vegas has grown considerably over this period, but it’s hard to put all the blame on them. Arizona and California have extensively used the lake to supply water as well.

  1. The biggest consumer of water is CA. The reality is farming in CA and AZ are the biggest consumers. Should we stop farming? Why would you blame Vegas?

Build more dams aka storage capacity. America relies on water infrastructure built mostly in the early 1900’s. The population in the West is 10x the size of the infrastructure was built for. No wonder we’re running short on water. Promote low water consumption water landscaping. Build more dams. Its not rocket science.

Or you can just reduce population or stop development as this article suggests. Stopping development just makes real estate harder for poorer, less affluent ppl to afford. So ya that’s stupid too.
