Whistler, B.C. Breaks 400-Inches of Snowfall!

Whistler, B.C. has officially broken 400″ of snowfall this season.

It happened yesterday after they got 8″ of snow overnight on Sunday.  They’ve gotten 4 more inches since yesterday bringing them to the numbers listed below:

Whistler, B.C = 

  • 406″ (1031cms) of snowfall this season
  • 12″ (31cms) of new snow past 48 hours
  • 128″ (325cm) snowpack
  • 6-14″ (15-35cms) of snow are forecast in the next 5-days

El Nino forecasts were for a low precipitation, warm year for Whistler and southern B.C.  Looks like they were way off.

Whistler always gets snow.

Next winter will likely be a Strong La Nina!

Do you know what happens at Whistler during a strong La Nina?  

Well, the last strong La Nina in 2010/11, Baker got 622″ (1,579cm) of snowfall – the most snowfall they’ve recorded in the 21st century…
