The owner ofย Points North Heli, Kevin Quinn, went out for birdโs eye view of Lake Tahoeโs new snow yesterday. ย He & his passengers snapped these photos and weโre very grateful heโs allowed us to use them here. ย Thereโs no better way to get a feel for how much snow is in a mountain range than flying over it and gawking at it from every possible angle.
Squaw & Alpine have a bit of snow coverage since last weekโs storm that dropped around 10โ in the higher elevations. ย Now that temperatures are consistently cold at night, snowmaking is in full effect at Squaw and Alpine. ย Theyโre cranking out as much snow as they can each night in preparation for opening as soon as possible.
Opening day at Squaw is scheduled for two days from now on Wednesday, November 27th. ย Alpine is scheduled to open on December 13th.
The forecast for Tahoe is showing sun and highs in the 50s this week with the possibility for some snow starting Thanksgiving day.
