report by James Winfield/Portillo

It’s been another great week here in Portillo, the weather has been unsettled with a few cloudy days and a little snow. Off piste it’s been pretty firm low down, so the smart skiers have been hiking to the higher shadier aspects to find soft snow. The classic chute ‘Super C’ has been skiing really well recently with powder at the start of the week, and smooth wind buff today.

On the groomed runs the coverage is still fantastic with good snow all the way down to the base of Juncallilo, the conditions are getting springlike, so the runs are hard and fast in the mornings then soften as the days progress.

Around the hotel it was the Portillo wine fest, with informative and fun tasting sessions in the afternoons. The Austrian ski team was around for their final weeks training, also seen shooting photos and video around the mountain was the Black Diamond and Blizzard Tecnica crews, so look out for Portillo in their content this winter. Some other special guests this week have been the Andes Magico and Montana de Alegria groups of adapative skiers, it’s always incredibly inspiring to see them around the mountain and it looked like they had a great time.
