We are coming to the end of the season in many resorts. Naturally our top 7 are still open but some not for much longer. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming piece on the best European resorts for spring skiing to see where you can ski until late April or even May.

Which resorts have the most snow right now? Here is the top 7 for the European Alps for week 15 of 2024:

#7 Flaine/Le Grand Massif, France

Le Grand Massif is at #7 this week with 4.45 meters (15 feet) of snow depth. Le Grand Massif is in France and is located in the Haute-Savoie region and is one of France’s largest interconnected ski areas. The resort faces the famous Mont Blanc and boasts 152 ski runs for beginners and experts alike, serviced by 64 modern ski lifts.

#6 Les Arcs/Paradiski, France

Les Arcs, France, is back in the top 7 this week with 4.5 meters (15 feet) of snow depth.  The French resort is connected with La Plagne and Peisy Vallandry and together forms the Paradiski ski area, the second largest interconnected ski area in the world with 265 miles (425km) of groomed runs serviced by 53 lifts and cable cars, including a two-level cable car that fits 200 people. The resort will be open until April 27.

#5 Alpe d’Huez, France

At #5 this week is Alpe d’Huez with 4.7 meters (15 feet) of snow depth.The highest peak in the Alpe d’Huez ski area in France is the Pic Blanc, reaching an altitude of 3,330 meters (10,925 feet). The ski run from Pic Blanc is the longest black run in Europe, called Sarenne, which is 16 kilometers (10 miles) long. Ski lifts at Alpe d’Huez will stay open until April 21.

Equal #3 Saas-Fee, Switzerland

Saas-Fee in Switzerland has been bumped down from #1 to #3 after the snow depth compacted from last week to 4.8 meters (16 feet). Saas-Fee will stay open until April 21. The resort will ring out the season with a party that is a mile long, leading from the Skihütte Burgener via the Black Bull Arena to the Zur Mühle restaurant, Hotel Bristol, and Hotel Mistral. The party starts at 2 p.m. Extra busses have been scheduled for the expected party revelers.

Equal #3 Flims Laax Falera, Switzerland

Flims Laax Falera has been bumped down to #3 with snow depth compacting to 4.8 meters (16 feet) after a warm and sunny week in the Alps. Flims Laax is closing on April 14, so this week is the last week to get your turns in at this Swiss resort. In its usual fashion, the resort is going out with a bang, with a long weekend filled with events from Thursday to Sunday, ranging from the Escape Closing Cup, to Mini Pipe Sessions, Rail Jams, Cash for Tricks Sessions, and parties.

#2 Stubaier Glacier, Austria

The Glacier at Stubai, Austria, comes in #2 this week with 4.85 meters (16 feet), unchanged from last week. The Stubaier Glacier is Austria’s largest glacier skiing area and is known for its excellent freeride terrain, with 14 dedicated freeride runs and an off-piste map. The groomed run from the top at Wildspitz at 3,210 meters down to the base at Mutterberg 1,750 meters is a staggering 10 km (6.25 miles) and provides a nice thigh burner.

#1 Portes du Soleil, France

Montriond-Avoriaz in the Portes du Soleil ski area in France is claiming the #1 spot this week with 5.2 meters (17 feet). Montriond-Avoriaz are on the French side together with Morzine and Les Gets. On the Swiss side you have Morgins and Champery.
