Avalanche
“Traffic Alert:
The avalanche on SR-89 south between Alpine Meadows and Tahoe City caught two cars in its path.
Everyone is out safe and no one was injured.
The slide was 200 feet across and 12 feet high at its termination point. No estimated time of re-opening SR-89 south.”

As of 6am today, highway 89 was still closed.
It’s been snowing like crazy in Tahoe the past week. Â Squaw has seen 85″ of snow since January 13th, 2017.
Avalanche danger was rated at HIGH yesterday in Tahoe.
