Weekend Conditions Report: Mt. Hood Meadows

Run from the top of Cascade on Saturday, onto the middle ridge above the Mazot, down around the sweater-vest road, and back to the lift. Mt. Hood, and the rest of Oregon for that matter, got hit by a big storm two weekends ago that finally dumped a few feet of new on top of the shallow base we’d been dealing with. That said, […]

We chase this wild ambition in the mountains. They present themselves as one of the most rewarding places to ski in January, remorselessly collecting payment in the form of sweat on the skintrack and numb […]

Skier Visits Down 23% at the 3 Vail Ski Resorts in Tahoe: Kirkwood, Northstar, Heavenly

“Unfortunately, conditions in Tahoe have been very poor with snowfall down approximately 85 percent relative to prior year, resulting in visitation and guest spending well below our expectations, which negatively impacted our overall revenue growth,” Vail CEO Rob Katz said in a statement. Tahoe hasn’t really gotten any snow this year yet. That has obviously translated into poor skier visit number in Tahoe this year. Compared to last year, skier visits are down 23.4% at Vail’s Lake Tahoe ski resorts: […]
