An eight-year-old child fell off the Gold Coast Express chair lift at Palisades Tahoe, California, on December 31, 2023. The child had been part of a group with the Mountain Sports School when the incident occurred. Around 12:30 p.m., the Palisades Tahoe ski patrol was called, and the ski patrollers found an injured skier and administered first aid. The 8-year-old was flown by CareFlight with non-life-threatening injuries to Renown Regional Medical Center.

According to users on Reddit, the incident occurred near Tower 3 of the Gold Coast chair. The exact circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation by the resort. Allegedly, the child suffered a compound leg fracture. It is unclear if the safety bar of the chair was down at this point.
