Friday Fun: Glen Plake & Scot Schmidt Wipeout HARD in Chamonix in “Blizzard of AAHHH’S”

This movie and these skiers are legendary:  “Blizzard of AAHHH’S”, Scot Schmidt, and Glen Plake. In my humble opinion, this is the best segment of the movie because these guys finally take it too far and pay the price and come up laughing. Good times.

Scot Schmidt Avalanche Interview: “I Got My Ass Handed to Me By a Massive Avalanche”

“I didn’t know anything about big mountains. I basically got my ass handed to me by a massive slide and I was lucky to have walked away from it. That experience alone put me on a whole different path. If I hadn’t have had that experience I wouldn’t have been as cautious and as intuitive and as conscious.” – Scot Schmidt Robb Gaffney […]

Powder Magazine & Greg Stump Present “Legends” with Scott Schmidt

Powder Magazine and Greg Stump are doing one “Legends” article and video each month.  This month, October, they’re covering Scott Schmidt.  Here they cover Scott Schmidt and his famous Steep Tech clothing.  Admittedly, the video is pretty boring, but it’s always cool to hear anything from Scotts angle. Powder TV presents the second installment of Legends, a series produced by […]

The History of Skiing Lake Tahoe

The first ski racing in North America, chairlifts before 1940, the first Winter Olympics outside of Europe, some of the best ski resorts in North America, and some of the biggest pro freeskiers on Earth including Shane McConkey and Scot Schmidt. Tahoe’s skiing history is lengthy, varied, storied, and rad. 1850s – Organized ski racing in North America starts near Lake Tahoe in Johnsville when gold miners skied 15-foot long skis and hit speeds near 100 miles per hour. […]

VIDEO: “The History of Freeskiing”

The guy’s voice in this video is abrasive. The information that the video displays is quite good. Freeskiing has come a long, long way. From essentially not having an identity at all, to Scot Schmidt, to Shane McConkey, to Fat Skis, to Rockered Skis, to Double Corks, to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. That’s the definition of progression. Where it will go from here, is tough to predict. We know about triple corks, we know about pushing Alaska lines even further, […]
