At 7:56pm tonight, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows ski resort in California announced that they will be opening for the season this Thursday, November 12th, 2015.

Alpine Meadows will be opening with the Kangaroo chairlift on Thursday, Nov. 12th.

Squaw Valley will be opening with the Gold Coast chairllift on Saturday, Nov. 14th.

Squaw reported 6″ of new snow this morning from the storm last night.  Squaw’s base is reported to be 23″ right now after 19″ of new snow in the past 7 days.

The storm hitting right now if forecast to drop 8-16″ of snow on Squaw and Alpine It has been and will continue to be cold enough for quality snowmaking this week.

It’s not currently clear if Squaw and Alpine will stay open daily or if they’ll be open only on weekends. 

Squaw’s scheduled opening date was Nov. 25th.  Alpine’s scheduled opening date was Dec. 12th.

It’s game on in Tahoe right now with Mt. Rose and Boreal currently open.  Northstar and Heavenly will open this weekendKirkwood will most likely open this weekend after getting 18″ of snow last night.
