Alpine Meadows Conditions Report – Feb 8th

Let’s be real – there were a lot of miserable people today at Alpine Meadows. It was cold and snaining, Summit was closed, lines were long, and people were soaked. I was getting texts by 10am that people were heading inside to the bar. I also came to the realization that my gloves and pants are not nearly as waterproof as I’d like them to be.

That being said, we kept a positive attitude and decided to try to make it fun. There was a nice rock off of Kangaroo chair that we jumped off of a few times while trying to avoid the crazy Roundhouse line. Yellow chair also had some fun terrain that’s starting to fill in nicely. While we only had the lower mountain to ski today, the upper mountain continued to get pounded with snow. Fingers crossed for a Summit Chair opening tomorrow!

  1. Mammoth is definitely open and shredding has been quite enjoyable, not much rain on the mountain either!

  2. Big thanks for telling it like is is.

Summit chair is still closed today (wind hold).
Squaw and Kirkwood are closed today.
