For many people in Alta, last week was the best week of skiing they had had in years. However, as with anything in life, with the good comes the bad. Lucking this is Alta, so bad is really still pretty descent. I like to say that in Alta it is either snowing hard or bluebird, and this past week has not let us down.

Though it has been dry, it has been absolutely gorgeous and ski patrol has been able to drop some ropes, most notably on Baldy’s Main Chute. Main Chute often does not open till the spring time once the avalanche conditions have settled out a bit. But with this extended dry spell and relatively warm temps, patrol said it was good to go!

Main chute started the morning nice and soft and by the afternoon was a bit moguled out. However, being steep and north-facing the moguls were still pretty forgiving.

SNOW REPORT:

24 hour snowfall: 0”
7 day snowfall: 1″
base: 60″
season snowfall: 163″

WEATHER:

It looks like we will have a few more days of warmth and dryness followed by a passing storm Sunday through Monday. Forecasted storm totals have been a bit wobbly, so it is hard to say how much at this point, but fingers crossed!
