No stranger to receiving the most snow in North America, Alyeska Resort, Alaska, is at it again. The foot of snow it received over the weekend took the ski area past 500โณ for the season. The resort has seen 509โณ of fresh snow this season and has a 148โณ base.
Thatโs an incredible totalโmore than most resorts will see all season. Only one other resort has even reached 400โณ yet.
Alyeska has now exceeded 500โณ seven times in the last few years. Last season, they reported 740โณ; in 2022-23 785โณ; in 2020-21 735โณ; in 2015-16 785โณ; in 2011-12 733โณ, and 2010-11 581โณ.
Alyeska averages 650โณ of snowfall on the upper mountain and 512โณ of snowfall at mid-mountain. The biggest year on record was 2012, with 978โณ of snowfall.
The world record for a ski area is 1,140โณ at Mt. Baker ski area, WA, in 1998-99.
