Antarctica Ski Trip Day #1
Report from October 21, 2023
Yesterday = Deception Island! This is an active volcano (see the video of the penguins walking on the steaming beach.) To start the day, 10 orcas surrounded our ship while two large fin whales lounged in the distance. We wondered if the Orca might have been hunting the Fin Whales but never confirmed that.
Penguins were everywhere, displaying their juxtaposition of ninja swimming and hilarious waddling.
The skiing was corny and fun, and we snuck in two laps before the ship blew the horn for us to get back on board.
We have six more ski days here before we head home.
Yesterday was ski day #268 of the season for me. This was day #18 of our 3,600-mile Patagonia to Antarctica Safari.
Thanks, Antarctica.
